Lonely Sounds

Midnight train.
Doves cooing. (I know, it's pathetic, but they always sound mournful to me.)
Wind soughing through the pine trees when you're walking in the woods alone.

    I'll have to think about this one. Your last one there is more evocative of peacefulness rather than loneliness to me.

    there's a pitch that they do make that gives me a loneliness chill. But not always . . . as you say, often it is a peaceful sound
