I Ate It!

iatethemI finally got my nerve up, and ate some nasturtium blossoms. These didn't have much taste, more like a light lettuce. Next up, the leaves! And this page has more ideas of how to use this wonderful plant.

  1. you can toss a few chopped fresh rose petals in there too. though, roses seem to be more of a dessert item.

    then ag'in, some folks do soups, and they always brew into a good tea,with rose hips added maybe.

    you want the cicada recipes?

    There's something decadent and lovely about eating flowers. I've enjoyed them in salad greens. They make for a pretty plate!

  5. eek! No cicada recipes, kim! However, I do have some rosehips on the wild rose plant that I'm thinking about harvesting.

    It took me awhile to try it, Diane and Julie. I'm not used to eating orange salads *grin*.

    I felt oh so . . . something, Kathryn! It was a good experience, and I'll definitely do more of it. (Especially as I have the monster nasturtium plant. It's huge! and I have more coming in my secret garden.)
