It's almost time again. I'm looking into my magic mirror (anyone remember Romper Room?) and I see Patti and Ali and Onyx signed up again. And I've joined this year again, with great anticipation this year. I've only completed once, but I'm ready to go the distance this year.

Michigan State University plays what we consider our arch-rival, University of Michigan, in football at 3:30 p.m. University of Michigan considers Ohio State their arch-rival. Normally UM's football team is a powerhouse, but they have a new coach this year and are doing poorly. MSU is in the second season of our new coach, but were doing well until last week's game with Ohio State.

Today the real test comes. Can we get over the psychologicals to beat UM? We'll know soon enough!

the barn guy cleared out the south side of the barn bridge, leaving me another garden plot. Uncle H and Aunt M gave me a bunch of tulip bulbs and iris . . . guess where they're going? My friend Carla also has hostas and sedum that are coming out to the farm.

The rock border is handy . . . the cornfield is just to the right of this bed and I pluck stones out of it.

Recession? Well, Michigan has been in one for about 18 months now. You can't let it get you down.

Sigh . . . the Greenies had trouble this week.

Our worst loss under coach Mark Dantonio. Michigan State was expected to do well in this game, but . . . it didn't happen. Next Saturday: the big game with that school just to the south of us, UofM. 'Course, they're having an even worse year.

I'm amazed at all the different types of pumpkins and gourds there are at the market this time of year.

Color Me GREEN with Happiness.

Michigan State University won a ROAD game today. This is fantastic. We are now 6-1. It has been a LONG time coming, but it feels so sweet to have this wonderful start.

The game was on cable, which I don't have, and I had a project painting the new barn door today. So I kept track of the game the old-fashioned way: I would turn the car radio on now and then to keep abreast of developments.

Home Sick

Well I've just taken two days off from work. I had a case of the flu, I think. I was sick Saturday, and Sunday, and still wrung out Monday, so I took time off. About 3:00 p.m. today my energy finally kicked back in. Whew

I Actually Finished a Project

I LOVE having the chicken coop as a kind of workshop. Projects can stay put until I have the time to finish them, instead of being swept into a closet. (Of course, it was the apartment that had closets. The farm only has one. Pre-closet days of building.)

The chair was an unfinished one from Michaels. I first painted it a dark green. I wanted it to look old, so before I painted it light green, I put vaseline on areas that I wanted to look worn. After the coat of light green, I wiped the areas of vaseline with baby wipes, leaving the dark green showing under.

My brothers, 43 and 52, are scared of this doll. What's up with that?

Grrr.

Just saw 60 Minutes section on the $700,000,000 bailout. Blood pressure just elevated again. *sigh*

A fantastic thing about October: it is North Carolina/Tennessee's Susan's birthday month, and the fifth is the day!!!! Susan and I have done the 50's together, since 2002, and what a blessing she is as a friend. You can visit her at EBC or SusanJayne. Happy Birthday, girl, you caught up with me again!!!!

This Makes Me Feel Better

Hi, sorry I haven't been around this week. I've been a little under the weather mentally and physically. But I have to feel better today with Michigan State University scoring their FIFTH win in football.
