Where I Was Yesterday

little sable copy

Little Sable Lighthouse, Oceana County, Michigan

Michigan, with its borders on 4 of the 5 Great Lakes, has the most lighthouses of any of the states in the United States.

Beautiful beach scene but for me, I think the most dramatic lighthouses are far and away in New England and the Pacific Northwest!

But my dad grew up a few blocks from Lake Michigan, in the northern suburbs of Chicago so that lake I do have a fondness for. See ya, have a nice rest o' the weekend!

How weird that an inland state has the most lighthouses.

yes, but the Great Lakes can handle huge vessels. "Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald?" Happened on Lake Superior.

The channels that Jim and I would visit he would always say you could travel around the world as they took you out to the great lakes and once there you were all set.

love the image Shirl, its beautiful.

I have never been to a lighthouse. I have seen the light from a few.

hi blue! They are trying to open more of them here in Michigan. Proceeds from the visit go to preserving the lighthouses
