Beware

beware

It's supposed to be a good year for poison ivy. I had it last year, and I shirley don't want to go through that experience again. However, playing in the woods and fields as I do, it could happen.

Grandma Lora used to have us wash with Fels Naptha soap if we thought we had been exposed. What "cures" have you used?

I've used aveno afterwards but there is a new product, technu, that if you wash with it after exposure, it will kill all the toxins. We've used it and I think it works after-the-fact.

Aveno helped me when I had it. I'll need to look at that technu. I was out in the yard last night and spotted some coming under one of the pine trees.

Welcome, mother!

My mother used to get poison oak every year from the back fence. She became allergic to it. Her remedy was some old Indian tea - something called Golden Seal. It stained the towel you were using to soak with, but you could also soak in the tub with it too if needed. I think this product was more for relief than anything though...
