Another Cate Blanchett as QEI movie is coming out. In 250 words or less, tell me what I need to know about Queen Elizabeth I in the comments.

blogger wasn't working before so I emailed you instead. Here it is again....
1533 -1603, daughter of Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn. Third child of Henry - Edward died young (17 I think) and then Mary took over as queen but married Catholic Phillip of Spain - not a popular move. She died in 1558. Elizabeth reigned from 1559 till her death in 1603.
Called "the virgin queen" cos she never married, but doubtless was no virgin. Robert Dudley was supposedly the love of her life but he was married to someone else. Consolidated Protestantism as the official religion of England (tho' the Catholics did have a mini-revival after her death with James Stuart). Defeated the Spanish attempt to invade England - the whole Spanish Armada thing. Also had to deal with Mary Queen of Scots who had some claim to the English throne but was Catholic so was also got rid of - beheaded. James 1 (James VI of Scotland), who succeeded Elizabeth, was Mary's son.
That's it off the top of my head...

bravo, bravo! Ok, the movie is set in the period of the Spanish Armada. Cool! I don't usually go for historical type movies, but this looked very good. Or could that be because Clive Owen is in it. Hmmmmm.
